Note: Most browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) use WebM format due to MediaRecorder API limitations. Only Safari supports MP4 recording. MP4 files work directly in editing software, while WebM may require conversion.
transform WebM File Conversion
If you receive a WebM file, you may need to convert it to MP4 for compatibility with certain video editing software:
- Online Converters: CloudConvert, Convertio, or Online-Convert
- Free Software: HandBrake, VLC Media Player, or FFmpeg
- Professional Tools: Most editing software can import WebM directly
💡 Tip: Most editors can import WebM files, but converting to MP4 is recommended for better performance and compatibility.
videocam Camera Change Limitations
💡 Safari Tip: Use System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Camera to change the default camera system-wide before recording.
schedule Recording Duration Limitations
⚠️ Web Browser Memory Limitations:
- Recommended: Up to 30 minutes per recording
- 720p: ~2GB memory usage for 1 hour (may cause browser crash)
- 1080p: ~3.6GB memory usage for 1 hour (higher crash risk)
💡 Best Practice: For longer content, split your recording into multiple 20-30 minute sessions. Web browsers cannot handle multi-hour recordings reliably due to memory constraints. A full desktop application is in development for unlimited recording capabilities.
