Third-Party Notices
Last updated: June 6, 2026
Virtual Editor includes third-party open-source software. This notice summarizes distribution-sensitive components used by the desktop app. It is not a replacement for the complete license files shipped with each dependency.
Project License
Virtual Editor source code is currently marked as MIT in its package metadata. See the repository license file for full terms.
FFmpeg / FFprobe
Virtual Editor uses FFmpeg and FFprobe tooling for local media analysis and export. Final desktop releases include the license notices and dependency license files required for the FFmpeg distribution strategy used by that release.
- ffmpeg-static: GPL-3.0-or-later package metadata.
- ffprobe-static: MIT package metadata.
- @ffmpeg/core, @ffmpeg/ffmpeg, and @ffmpeg/util: MIT package metadata.
Major Runtime Libraries
The app also bundles browser and runtime libraries so the packaged desktop app does not depend on CDN scripts at startup, including Electron, Lit, PixiJS, Shoelace, MediaInfo.js, es-module-shims, wavesurfer.js, mp4box, and zip.js.
Distribution Notes
- This page is updated when the desktop app dependency tree changes.
- Dependency license files are included with packaged desktop builds where required.
- FFmpeg compliance is reviewed as part of release packaging.
